James Halvorson
b. 1974, Hettinger, ND
I have several projects that are diverse in style, the common thread being an investigation into metaphysical questions and the historical debate about its validity as a focus of study. I see my work as a recording of successive interpretations of an object repeated visually with variations and differences. The viewing becomes a temporal experience and a story emerges, the meaning of which is contingent upon the lived experiences of viewers, who may or may not close a circuit of meaning. In terms of a metaphysical exercise, I am interested in how nominal notions emerge into phenomena.
